Inquiring minds want to know...

Why professionally shoot every project?

How do you know when a project is “done”? As an interior designer, it can feel like a project is never really finished. There’s always another element, another tweak, another upgrade that you could add to a space. The “end” may even feel anticlimactic because you haven’t really defined an endpoint. And nobody wants to leave a client feeling confused about when the project is done.

To celebrate, you need a defined endpoint. Imagine running a marathon without mile markers and, worse, without a finish line. How do you know when you’re done? Do you just slow to a walk and then decide to slink home? Where is the fun in that?

A photoshoot with me is a celebration of your hard work. Of all the hours you’ve spent drafting, communicating, obsessing, sourcing, flouffing (oh yes, I said it), You and your client get to finally stop and say “WOW! We did it!” because the photoshoot is the finish line. Just like a runner crossing the line in Boston, you get to put those gorgeous photos on Instagram and move onto the next big thing.

How can I make a photoshoot more affordable?

I get it, great photography is expensive. That’s why I offer cost-sharing arrangements for full-day shoots. Basically, you partner with another party that wants images from the same project (think trades, vendors, builders, architects). You each receive a 30% discount on the shoot and basic licenses for the images. Cost-sharing needs to be discussed at the time of booking. Cost sharing is not available for booked or past shoots.

How do I make the most of my photoshoot?

I’m so glad you asked!. It starts with the discovery call. Tell. Me. Everything.
Share photos you have of the space with me so I can start to plan. Tell me what elements you most want captured. Show me images from magazines that you want to emulate in composition. We will create the shot list on that call so that I can move through the space efficiently during the shoot. The more organized you are, the more shots I can take.

On the day of the shoot, style the space before I arrive. Bring in flowers or other elements (just no bowls of lemons–let’s not be uninteresting). For larger projects, we can talk about bringing in a production assistant.

When will I get my images?

I deliver soft proofs of images within 7 days of the shoot. Once you have selected the images you want to license, I do final edits within 7 days. Often, images can be delivered sooner, let's talk about any time constraints you may be under.

My cabinet maker, wallpaper hanger, lighting guy, and a magazine want to use the images. Is that ok?

No, not without a license. As a client of mine, you purchase a license for you to use the images for specific purposes. No one else may use the images (not even on social media) without their own license. The best way to handle these requests is to send them directly to me and let me hash out the details. Plus, imagine how boss you'll feel when you say "Let me refer you to my photographer for those inquiries."
